The University of Minnesota Duluth Football team announced its 2017 promotional schedule today. Kicking off the season, UMD Football will host Sioux Falls in the 2017 home opener under the lights on Thursday, August 31st at 6:00 p.m. The Bulldogs then return home on Saturday, September 16th at 6:00 p.m. for the annual Military Appreciation Day game.
On September 16th, UMD is partnering with local military organizations to raise money and awareness for Operation One Voice. Operation One Voice is a program designed by police officers, firefighters and community leaders to generate funds to help support the immediate needs of children and families of wounded and fallen Special Operations Forces. In addition to the game, on Sunday (Sept. 17) UMD is partnering with Northland Subway to raise funds for Operation One Voice. On Sunday fans can visit any Northland Subway and receive a BUY ONE 6" GET ONE 6" with DONATION.
Tickets to the game, which kicks off on September 16th at 6:05 p.m.(James S. Malosky Stadium), are free to all current and former members of the military (with an ID) and just $5.00 for military spouses and children. Ticket information can be found here. In honor of the servicemen and women of the Armed Forces, Bulldog players will wear special helmet decals. The Bulldogs have also partnered with Universal Athletics & Under Armour to bring a limited edition Bulldog camo hat that will be sold for $25 (quantities limited). In addition, UMD has partnered with the Black Woods Group to sell military coins for $10. Coins can be purchased leading up to the game at Black Woods on London Road and the Tavern on the Hill.
To round out the fall promotions for the season, the Bulldogs will be inviting back the 1987 and 2002 teams for a special reunion and the annual Homecoming game is set for Oct. 21st when UMD takes on Minot State.
